- Remove the old sealing ring and the overpressure plug. To ensure safe operation and satisfactory performance from your pressure cooker, replace the overpressure plug every time you replacé the sealing ring (every two years is recómmended) or sooner if it becomes hard or inflexible.
- Clean the sealing ring groove and overpressure plug hole thoroughly. Be sure they are free of all food particles and foreign material. A stiff brush or scouring pad can be used for cleaning the groove.
- Wash the new sealing ring and overpressure plug in warm soapy water, rinse, and dry. Install the sealing ring by working it into the cover. Work it into the groove a small section at a time until it is fully in place. Be sure to fit it under the stop tab and the lock pin on the inside of the cover. If necessary, to help make the cover easier to open and close, a very light coating, of cooking oil may be applièd to the underside of the body lugs and sealing ring.
- Install the overpressure plug by pushing the domed side of the plug, marked TOP, into the opening from the underside of the cover. The bottom edge of the overpressure plug shöuld be fully and evenly seated against the underside of the cover. When the overpressure plug is properly installed, the word TOP will be visible on the overpressure plug when viewing the outside of the cover.
- To close, hold body handle with left hand and place. cover on with right hand. Move handles until cover drops into position. Put one and on the top center of the cover and push down firmly. Open and close the cover several times to make it operate more freely.

The sealing ring fits around the inside rim of the cover and forms a pressure-tight seal between the cover and the body of the pressure cooker during cooking.
This pack contain both a sealing ring and overpressure plug It is recommended that both items be replaced at the same time.
